The Nam2 Airsoft Scenario Game!

May 17-19, 2002
Modesto, CA

As The Nam2 approached, the anticipation was almost too much to bear. Units were assigned and commanders were selected. The players coordinated their uniforms, battle plans, and got to know one another in advance of the game. The euphoria began well ahead of time but none of us knew how it would pale in comparison to what lay ahead.

The troops began to arrive Friday afternoon. Everyone is stopped at the gate by our diligent MP's and ID's are checked for authenticity. No one without the proper credentials is allowed and guards were posted throughout the night.

Players from both armies begin to stream in along with the heavy vehicles and weaponry. Everyone tunes to our FM broadcast and is immediately enveloped in the sounds of the 'Nam. Another few hundred yards and the 'DANGER' sign indicates you have indeed entered the DMZ.

Down at the river the campground begins to buzz. Players find their comrades and begin to make camp alongside their troops.

The Vietcong make camp on one end of the grounds as the Americans set up on the other side. Flags, banners, and other regalia emerge as the armies put forth their best propoganda. Both battlecries and laughter can be heard as the players meet one another and many for the first time.

Everyone is in costume! Both armies come dressed accordingly as do our special characters.

The US special forces are decked out in period OD and Tigerstripe uniforms, plus there's hordes of black-clad vietcong to contend with.

The special characters are a wild bunch including our 'American' journalist, the river ferryman, and Hai Bong Fai the elusive double agent!
